Research Interests

Dr. Hongxia Fu's research group is interested in developing and applying quantitative and multidisciplinary methods including single-molecule biophysics, biochemistry, microfluidics, and organoid stem cell biology to understand how biological systems respond to environmental changes to regulate physiological functions and how these are related to disease, in order to improve therapy.  The research focuses on 1) mechanobiology by understanding how proteins sense physical/chemical changes and regulate vascular and tubular function in health and disease states, especiallyhemostasis, thrombosis, hemophilia, and von Willebrand disease; and 2) cell adhesion by studying how protein-protein interactions regulate cell signaling pathways and lead to long/short-range cell-cell interactions.
